Getting There
La Petite Maison and La Grande Maison are located in the tiny hamlet of Gresignac in the Dordogne region of South-West France.
Getting there is getting easier!
You can get there using cross channel ferry services:
With Brittany Ferries you can travel from Portsmouth to Caen, Cherbourg & St Malo or alternatively from Plymouth to Roscoff. You can also travel with both Brittany Ferries or Condor Ferries from Poole to Cherbourg or St Malo. Condor also operate from Weymouth. Transmanche Ferries operate from Newhaven to Dieppe and LD Ferries operate from Newhaven to Le Havre and Portsmouth to Le Havre. With P&O, and SeaFrance you can travel from Dover to Calais. SpeedFerries operate the Dover to Boulogne route. Motoring organisations such as Mobilise (formed by the merger of the Disabled Drivers’ Motor Club and the Disabled Drivers' Association) can offer significant discounts on ferry prices - http://www.mobilise.org.uk
You should allow about six to seven hours travelling time from Caen, Cherbourg, St Malo or Le Havre – and a minimum of eight hours thirty minutes from Calais or Boulogne.
The Channel Tunnel avoids a sea crossing and you should allow up to ten hours driving time to get to Gresignac.
Cheap flights can offer great opportunities:

You can also get there by rail – Eurostar from London Waterloo, Ebbsfleet or Ashford International to Lille or Paris and then on to Angouleme by TGV. Alternatively, you could fly to Paris Charles de Gaulle (Ryanair or Easyjet and most of the airlines above offer cheap flights) and travel on to Gresignac by rail or road.
If you opt to fly or go by rail, you will need to hire a car. Most companies offer reasonable deals but you would be well advised to make arrangements well in advance if you require special arrangements such as hand controls. Angouleme has most of the major car rental companies including Avis, Hertz, Budget and you will normally find these, plus others, at airports.
